First Holy Communion
The Sacrament of First Holy Communion which we receive at Holy Mass and which we believe is the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ. As Catholics, we take Jesus at His word when He says ‘This is my body, which is given for you’ (Luke 22:19)
Your child’s faith journey began the day you brought your child to the Church to be baptised. The year of your child’s First Holy Communion is a very special journey of discovery of God’s personal love for them. We in Walkinstown Parish want to make this journey as special as possible for your child and also for you as parents/guardians and all your family.
The school’s preparation – the Grow in Love Programme – is complemented by a parish-based programme.
Participation in Sunday Mass throughout the year will be an important element in the preparation journey as your family and child prepares for the Holy Sacraments. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to get involved and participate in these Masses by way of doing a reading, Prayers of the Faithful and or presenting the gifts of bread to the altar etc. To conclude the programme there will be a procession on the Feast of Corpus Christi in June.
